Creative Clay

Trisha hosts creative clay workshops in her garden studio. These workshops focus on play and allow freedom to explore the making of hand formed pieces through coil work, slab work and sculpture. There is no potters-wheel.

• Weekly workshops (10 sessions) – £250 per person
  
  Designed as a course of 10 classes, Trisha’s weekly creative clay workshops take place from 10 am to 12 noon, one day each week. On these courses, in addition to working by hand with clay, students will be taught the basics of glazing over the final two weeks. Three students maximum – two minimum. Clay and glazes will be charged according to weight and firing requirements. Tea, coffee and biscuits included and as much attention and answering of questions as needed!
• Weekend Workshops – £150 per person
  
  Two-day weekend workshops are held from 10 am to 4 pm each day and designed for a maximum of 4 people. Firing of work will be completed when the clay is dry and may then be picked up or posted. Hotels/local B&B’s can be recommended on request. Inclusive of coffees, teas, biscuits, light lunch with wine and materials. Clay and glazes will be charged according to weight and firing requirements. Hotels/local B&B’s can be recommended on request.
• One-to-one workshop – £60 per person
  
  3 hours from 10 to 1. Clay and glazes will be charged according to weight and firing requirements. Tea, coffee, biscuits and Trisha’s undivided attention are all included.

The Art of Felt Making

Felt is thought to have originated around 8000 years ago and is one of the oldest ways of making fabric. It was probably discovered by adding wool to the inside of foot coverings to provide extra warmth. The effect of walking on the wool (along with a little help from sweaty feet!) matted it into a strong, warm fabric which could be cut and sewn into various garments, even armour because of its dense strength.

• One-Day Introduction to Felt Making – £85 per person
  
  This workshop is a relaxing way to learn this beautiful and creative art. Workshops run from 10 am until 4 pm and are held in Trisha’s home. With a maximum of three people per workshop there is plenty of scope for learning and unwinding. Lunch with wine is provided along with all materials. You will leave with a wall hanging or handbag of your own creation made from soft, pure 100% Merino Wool chosen from 102 stunning colours.
• Two Day Felt Making Workshop – £160 per person
  
  The two-day workshop allows a more detailed exploration into the art and slippers, hats or “sculpture” may be achieved. Those who attend workshops are always amazed at the discovery of their “artist within” whilst making felt. These longer workshops are also held at Trisha’s home and lunch with wine is provided on both days, along with all materials. Each day starts at 10 am and finishes at 4 pm.

• Workshops in Your Own Setting* – £240/£340 per day
  
  If you are part of a group interested in Felt Making, one-day workshops can be arranged in a setting of your choice, either a private home or hired venue. All materials are provided and the day starts at 10am and finishes at 4pm.
  
  One-day courses for groups of 6 to 8 – £240
  One-day courses for groups of up to 15 – £340

• Felt Making in Schools – Colourful, Calming and Creative – £250 per day*
  
  Art workshops and weekly residencies can be held in the classroom**, taking up to 15 children in a morning session and another 15 children in an afternoon session within a normal school day. This very clean and calming art is extremely rewarding for each child, allowing for creativity within all levels of artistic ability or awareness.
  
  Beautiful wall hangings created from a choice of 102 colours of merino wool can be achieved by putting together the work of each child with the school name as part of the work. Alternatively, individual work such as masks or pictures of current studies within the class room (e.g. flowers, insects, history) can be created.
  
  * Includes materials for up to 30 children

“Trisha has taken felt workshops at our school every year for many years and with the most recent created an amazing outcome for the school as our children were invited to exhibit in the International Children’s Art Exhibition in a gallery, complete with opening night party! In this workshop, Trisha’s enthusiastic yet disciplined manner of teaching encouraged the children to choose and learn about the life of a famous contemporary artist and the medium in which the artist worked.
