Creative Clay

Trisha hosts creative clay workshops in her garden studio. These workshops focus on play and allow freedom to explore the making of hand formed pieces through coil work, slab work and sculpture. There is no potters-wheel.

“Trisha’s clay workshop was inspirational and therapeutic. She taught me to be free with creations, build on impulses, and to embrace the potential of natural flows. The outcome is seen to take a concrete form, but the experience went beyond.” – Sayuri Hasegawa

“Trisha is an inspirational teacher and allowed me the freedom to work big and bold, while always encouraging me. I loved the end results (and the coffee and cake!).” – Julia Curnow

The Art of Felt Making

Felt is thought to have originated around 8000 years ago and is one of the oldest ways of making fabric. It was probably discovered by adding wool to the inside of foot coverings to provide extra warmth. The effect of walking on the wool (along with a little help from sweaty feet!) matted it into a strong, warm fabric which could be cut and sewn into various garments, even armour because of its dense strength.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend in Trisha’s cosy kitchen – talking, laughing, eating good food and making felt. Choosing the coloured yarn and laying down the patterns was very relaxing and I liked the fact that Trisha kept emphasising there was no right way, that all our work was individual and beautiful. To dare to take a risk was very liberating and we were each made to feel successful, just by being creative and having a go.” – Vicky Ireland

“Trisha has the knack of engaging each participant with their creative energy and then supporting them in their development. The dynamics of the workshop are managed brilliantly, with every person being stretched and challenged by the activity. It is not just the beautiful product which has stayed with us, but also the sense of personal achievement and growth.” – Pippa Boyd

Trisha Crocker Workshops

“Trisha has taken felt workshops at our school every year for many years and with the most recent created an amazing outcome for the school as our children were invited to exhibit in the International Children’s Art Exhibition in a gallery, complete with opening night party! In this workshop, Trisha’s enthusiastic yet disciplined manner of teaching encouraged the children to choose and learn about the life of a famous contemporary artist and the medium in which the artist worked. This gave confidence to the least-able and provided an opportunity for the most able to explore and extend their understanding of art using beautiful, soft textured wool as their medium.” – Serena Gunn, Head, Meadowbrook Montessori School
